Group-II Interview Posts

Candidate selection for vacancies in Group 2 is based on preliminary exams, main written exams, interviews, and personality tests.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess a graduate degree or an equivalent from any recognised institution or university. Some Group II posts require additional educational and preferential qualifications. You can collect the eligibility criteria in the official notification of TNPSC Group-II Recruitment of 2022.

For all posts excluding Sub-Register Grade- 2, Probation Officer in Prison department and Social Defence Department.

  • Minimum age – 18
  • Maximum age for all categories – 30
  • Maximum age ( For MBC, SC,SC(A),ST, DC,BCM,BC,DW) – No age limit

Sub-Registrar Grade-2

  • Minimum age – 20
  • Maximum age (for all categories) – 30
  • Maximum age ( For MBC/DC, SC,SC(A),ST,BC,BCM,DW) – No limit

Probation officer in prison department

  • Minimum age – 22
  • Maximum age (for all categories) – 30
  • Maximum age ( For MBC/DC, DW, SC,SC(A),ST, BC,BCM) – No age limit

Probation officer in Social Defence Department

  • Minimum age – 26
  • Maximum age (for all categories) – 40
  • Maximum age ( For DW, MBC/DC, SC,SC(A),ST,BC,BCM) – No limit

For Maximum Age Limit

Candidates must not be older than 58 years on the date of Group-II notification and at the time of selection or appointment to the post.

Exam Pattern For TNPSC Group-I

Group I exams are conducted in three stages.
1. Preliminary Exam – Objective Type
Subjects

General Studies ( Degree Standard ) – 175 Questions

Aptitude & Mental Ability Test ( SSLC Standard ) – 25 Questions

Total – 200 Questions

Duration: 3 Hours

Maximum marks: 300

Qualifying marks

Minimum qualifying marks for all communities: 90

3. Interview ( Oral Test )
Main written examination: 300 marks

Oral Test: 40 Marks

Total Marks: 300+40=340 Marks

Qualifying marks

Minimum Qualifying Marks for all Communities: 102 out of 340

2. Mains Exam
Written examination for Interview and Non-Interview posts
Paper – 1 (SSLC Standard, Duration: 1 Hrs 30 Mins )

Tamil to English translation (2 questions, 25 marks each)

English to Tamil translation (2 questions, 25 marks each)

Minimum qualifying marks: 25

Candidates who do not secure minimum qualifying marks in Paper-1 will not be considered for the evaluation of Paper-2.

Paper-2 (Degree standard, Duration: 3 hours)

Précis writing (3 questions, 20 marks each)

Comprehension (3 questions, 20 marks each)

Hints development (3 questions, 20 marks each)

Essay writing on Thirukural (3 questions, 20 marks each)

Official Letter writing (3 questions, 20 marks each)

Total Marks – 300

Important points to be noted:

  • Paper-2 should be answered fully in Tamil or English alone.
  • Marks secured in Paper-1 will not be considered for selection
  • Marks secured in Paper-2 alone will be considered for selection
3. Interview ( Oral Test )
Main written examination: 300 marks

Total Marks: 300+40=340 Marks
